15,000 customers are now connected to the fibre broadband network.

It is being rolled out by Sure and the States, which is providing up to £12.5m of the total £37.5m investment.

75% of island premises can now access fibre connectivity, and around 700 additional homes are being added every month. The project is on schedule and all island properties will have fibre access by the end of 2025.

Richard Cartland, Guernsey Fibre Programme Director at Sure, said: "It's amazing to celebrate this key milestone on our journey to making Guernsey a fully fibre-connected island.

"15,000 properties equate to a 70% take up of fibre, which is double the rate of the UK.

"The demand for fibre is so high in Guernsey because fibre is faster and more resilient than the old network, there are no connection fees or additional monthly charges when switching to fibre, and it's very straightforward to switch. We're seeing that fibre broadband is a game-changer for residents and businesses, providing the speed and reliability needed for today's digital world."

The next phase of the roll out will be focussed on St Peter Port and the Guernsey Fibre team is already working closely with retail outlets, business and community groups.

Economic Development President Deputy Neil Inder, said: "We are now nearing the point where every home in the island will have the option to switch to Fibre, which will be a big achievement for Guernsey. This network means better speeds and higher-quality performance, which benefits individuals and businesses. Fibre is essential to our competitiveness as a jurisdiction, and I look forward to the programme's completion."

The investment has created 80 local jobs, and the Fibre team has worked with seven additional local suppliers.
