Some of the world's leading and emerging contemporary photographers, alongside local talent, will be on display at this year's Guernsey Photography Festival.

Taking place in established galleries, pop-ups and public spaces across St Peter Port, the festival runs from 20 September until 20 October 2018. The main venue this year will be the old Tax Office building on the South Esplanade which has been transformed into a vibrant exhibition space.

Over 30 exhibitions will be presented.

Since 2010, the Guernsey Photography Festival has made a major contribution to Guernsey’s cultural scene. The sixth edition will present world class projects that highlight issues that communities need to consider. The theme for this year’s festival is Political Landscape.

Festival Director, Jean-Christophe Godet, said: "The Guernsey Photography Festival enjoys a well-deserved international reputation, providing a unique opportunity to experience contemporary photography on the beautiful island of Guernsey.

"We very much hope that amongst all the exhibitions on show this year, some of them will inspire you, will move you, challenge you, and create debate and conversations amongst your friends, family and colleagues. This, after all, is what this festival is all about.”

The festival will kick off on 20 September with an opening evening of photography and live music (with multi-instrumentalist Justin Freeman aka Ravi) at St James, followed by a weekend of talks, projections, and exhibition openings and an exciting party at the Old Tax Office on Saturday 22 September from 18:00. Further events will run throughout the festival month, including workshops for students, family events and bespoke tours of the festival sites.

Glyn Hirsch, CEO of Raven Property Group, said the group was delighted to continue supporting the Guernsey Photography Festival.

"This is now an established event that has national and international recognition. This helps raising the island’s profile abroad as a centre of excellence for business and cultural activities. We are proud to be a part of it.”
