Exploratory works to be carried out on L'Eree seawall

Friday 20 November 2020

Rue de la Rocque Poisson will close next week, as Environment & Infrastructure will be assessing the damage done to the seawall during stormy weather earlier this year.

Emergency repairs were undertaken in April after storms caused damage to an exposed section of the seawall on L’Eree bay, south of the seawall on Rue de la Rocque Poisson.

These works included the placement of rock armour to protect the wall before the next spring tide and prevent further collapse, however further works were always expected to be needed to restore this section of the wall.

The team will investigate the cause of the failure in April, which "will inform them how best to reduce the risk of further damage through the winter period and help to implement a long-term solution at the site."

The works begin on Monday 23 November and will run for an estimated four weeks. The Rue de la Rocque Poisson will be closed from Tuesday for the duration. E&I apologises for any inconvenience during these "essential works to this important piece of coastal defence."
