Any student requiring guidance and assistance after receiving exam results can call on support offered by the States’ careers services.
Advisers are ready to assist people leaving education over the coming weeks to talk about options for higher education, technical qualifications or entering full-time employment.
Sarah Stonebridge, Head of Careers Guernsey, said it's important to chat through options with professionals at what can be a stressful and emotional time.
“It is helpful for students to talk through all of their options with a qualified Careers Adviser before making any decisions, particularly if they are worried that their plans may have to change. A Careers Adviser can help provide reassurance and advice about new options or pathways that a leaver may not have considered yet to help them work towards their goal,” she said.
“It is encouraging to find many education leavers in employment or training already, with a high percentage who have applied to continue in education. This helps us focus our support on those young people who still need help with sorting out their next step.”
Students are already being contacted, but anyone who wants to approach the service directly can contact 01481 226565 or via careersguernsey@gov.gg.
