The total raised during this year's Everest Challenge was £23,162.08.
The charity fundraising event was held between Thursday 8 and Saturday 10 March at St Sampson's High School, with students from the school raising £4,000 themselves.
All of the money raised will be used to fund the Le Murier school's residential and independent learning programme which is seen by the school as part of the students' holistic learning.
Gary Dovey said: "We provide as many opportunities as possible for the students to enrich and enhance their learning through use of learning outside the classroom including off-site as well as residential experiences."
Mr Dovey said money raised during the Everest Challenge will fund the trips which enable the children to develop a number of skills, and he said "without the funds raised we simply would not be able to offer these vital skills to our students":
Practice and develop skills in a different context
Develop skills that are difficult to deliver in school
Give relevance to work done in school.
Enhance the school-based curriculum to extend the individual
Broaden and enrich students’ experiences (cultural & activity-based)
Raise students’ aspirations and provide good role models
enable staff to develop a better knowledge of their students and enhance working relationships
Mr Dovey said a number of people took part in the Everest Challenge this year and the school wanted to thank them all saying the money would come in very useful:
"Many of our students need specialist and high ratio staff and the costs of these would make many trips impossible. I would like to thank everyone who took part and raised money for us.
"I would also like to thank all who gave up their time over the weekend, school staff, friends and family and especially The Guernsey Mountaineering Club and its members who gave up much of their time to provide the belayers ( the people who hold the rope for the climbers).
"Also our sponsors Healthspan who cover all the set up costs, new rope, new helmets and harnesses etc. this ensures all the money raised goes to the students none is used to facilitate the events."
In particular Mr Dovey praised students at the neighbouring Baugbiny school: "St Sampson’s High students were amazing this year, they raised over £4000 when they climbed on Friday."
