"Each pint provides full vaccination against covid"

A VaccinAid fundraiser is being held at the Terrace this weekend, with donations welcomed and 100% of Breda sales going towards the UNICEF initiative.

The Overseas Aid and Development Commission has raised £19,750 from the community towards the international covid programme, which has been mooted as "the biggest vaccine drive in history".

VaccinAid funds people in underprivileged countries who don’t have the same access we do to the covid vaccination.

“UNICEF are aiming to deliver 2 billion vaccines to lower and middle-income countries across the world”, said the President of the OA&DC, Deputy Chris Blin.

After a public call for fundraisers to support the initiative, Keir McMeechan from the Terrace came forward to suggest hosting an event.

“I already personally support UNICEF and we thought 'why not adopt one of our band nights as a fundraiser as well?'”

“We’ve been donated Breda Superdry from Randalls and 100% of that will go towards VaccinAid.”

There’ll also be a Wheadons Gin bar with proceeds going directly to the charity.

“The delivery and cost of a vaccine is £1.80,” said Deputy Blin. “So, one pint means one person fully vaccinated,” confirmed Mr McMeechan.

“If we don’t get countries aligned with us we’re all going to be in trouble, so it goes further than just being generous,” added Deputy Blin, who hopes other individuals and businesses will come forward with their own fundraising initiatives. 

The Breda will be on sale all day with music from DJ Leon at 16:00 and the Vinyls playing at 19:00.
