Lucy Beere and Roy Bisson have been named in the King's 2023 New Year Honours list - his first since acceding to the throne.
Miss Beere was awarded an MBE for services to sport and Mr Bisson the BEM for services to the community.
The Lieutenant-Governor Lt Gen Richard Cripwell said: “I’m delighted that these two remarkable individuals have been recognised in His Majesty The King’s first New Year’s Honours list.

“On the face of it their achievements may appear quite different, but what Miss Beere and Mr Bisson have in common is a powerful sense of pride in Guernsey and its people that shines through in all that they do. I’m sure that Islanders will join me in sending them both our heartful congratulations.”
Miss Beere won a bowls silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Guernsey’s first medal in 28 years.
She learnt to play the sport in the Isle of Wight, where she was born, moving to Guernsey 15 years ago.

She has 256 international caps for Bowls Guernsey and 18 international medals, including four European Championship golds and being crowned the Indoor Women’s Singles World Champion in 2018.
She has claimed 16 Channel Island titles and also holds a Level One qualification in coaching bowls.
It is a sporting career that was pursued without sponsorship.
Mr Bisson has been a member of the Guernsey Round Table/41 Club since the 1960s and for the last 20 years has been a key organiser of the Club’s annual Christmas Fayre.

Since 1980 he has been a member of the Guernsey Swimarathon organising committee.
He served as a Deputy for seven years, with spells on the Island Development Committee, Fiscal Working Party, Public Thoroughfares Committee and States Water Board. He was also a non-States member of the Environment committee for four years.
Between 2010 and 2018 Mr Bisson was chairman of the Worker Education Association (Guernsey) and then president for the next three years.
He was also founder and chairman of the Guernsey Consumer Group between 1964 and 2000 and co-founded the Victor Hugo in Guernsey Society, now serving as its secretary. He was elected president of La Societe Guernesiaise in 2022.
