A dog has been successfully rescued after falling 10m down a cliff above Telegraph Bay in Alderney.
The drama unfolded yesterday afternoon with the Alderney Fire Brigade called out at 15:40 to help.
The dog had fallen and become stranded on the western cliff face above the bay, approximately 10 metres down the cliff face from the top.
The rescuers said that they needed to walk to a vantage point to rescue the pet, before climbing down the cliff face. They created anchor points for two people to 7descend down the cliff face to reach the dog.
When they reached the dog they used webbing to tie the dog to one of them, before it was fitted with a rescue harnes. They could then carry the dog as they were pulled back up the cliff face by the crews at the top.
Alderney Fire Brigade said the pet had no visible injuries and was safely returned to its owner.
The entire rescue operation took less than 90 minutes.
