A 9-year-old girl has been knocked off her feet by a dog, as she walked to school.

Guernsey Police say the incident happened earlier this month near Castel Primary School.

It's not known whether she was injured but the incident is now under investigation by police officers.

A spokesperson for Guernsey Police said officers want to identify a white man, of medium build, who was walking two dogs at the Rue St Germain Nature Reserve at around 08:00 on Friday 11 October.

He is described as "bald on top" with brown and greying hair on the sides of his head. He was wearing a brown t-shirt and jeans at the time of the incident.

One of the two dogs he was walking was off the lead at the time of the incident, and it "began jumping at a 9-year-old girl on her way to school" said the police spokesperson.

"The force of which has knocked her to the ground," they said.

The dogs are described as a large brown dog, potentially a Labrador or Staffordshire bull terrier cross and a beige smaller dog with "scraggly hair".

"If you have any information regarding this incident you are asked to contact PC 18 Winslade on 222 222 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111," said the Guernsey Police spokesperson.
