The St Peter Port Christmas Lights Charity is trying to trace the person who sent a note with a donation, so they can take the author on a tour of the lights later this year.
Chair of the charity, Jax Robin, said it was received recently during the latest fundraising campaign.
The 2018 fundraising campaign has included an envelope drop, held in conjunction with Guernsey Post. This week volunteers are also collecting donations at both the St Martin & St Sampson Grand Marche Stores.
The fundraising drive is needed as the lights throughout St Peter Port are no longer funded through parish rates and must be paid for through donations and sponsorship instead. Last year's fundraising, co-ordinated by Mrs Robin, was so successful that enough money was made to keep some aside to launch the 2018 funds too.
The charity is now hoping to replace some of the more tired displays in St Peter Port as well as planning to extend the display through Fountain Street too.
The fundraising for 2018 also appears to be going well, with a number of the envelopes being returned with donations enclosed.
One of those donations was received last Friday, 18 May. The money was accompanied by a hand written note from an 87-year-old widow who said she isn't able to see the lights herself.

Mrs Robin said: "We would very much like to see if we can make contact with the lady in question, and see if she would like to see the Christmas Lights this year with our support.
"Unfortunately there was no name, address or telephone details with the note, we have promoted through Facebook and Twitter over the weekend to try and find her. As she is an octogenarian, we are aware that she may not use either media, so therefore request all your help with what we hope you agree would be a lovely story if it was made possibly."
Mrs Robin can be contacted through the St Peter Port Douzaine with her contact details on the parish website.
