Luxembourg could be added to the Blue Islands route network.
The airline has launched a survey to see whether there is enough appetite in the business community to launch a twice weekly, year-round service to the European destination.
The flight would leave Jersey mid-morning, and route via Guernsey onto Luxembourg. Flight time would be one hour forty minutes from Guernsey.
Chief Commercial Officer Tom Barrasin said the airline has had discussions and feedback from multiple corporate service users, and Blue Islands has an “initial understanding” of the business community travel requirements to Luxembourg from Guernsey and Jersey.
“Now we are reaching out to the broader business community to get more granular feedback on beliefs and opinions around the route usage, schedule, seasonality, current travel experience and other service requirements to see if this could be a viable, sustainable route," he said.
"At Blue Islands, we continually seek new route opportunities to better serve the Channel Islands. We would like to encourage corporates and business travellers to complete the survey, so that we might learn more about our customers and shape the best service solutions to meet their needs and ultimately determine if that service can be delivered in a commercially viable way.”
Currently, reaching Luxembourg involved “costly airport transfers and long travel times”, Blue Islands claimed, and this direct service would provide convenience and a cost-effective travel option.
Aztec and PwC had already expressed its interest in the route.
Aztec Director Rob Jones said it welcomed the launch of the survey.
“Anecdotally we understand there is a requirement for this service, therefore we urge all potential users to complete the survey and provide Blue Islands with the information they need to appraise the new route fully.”
The survey will be open until Friday 31 August and can be found on the Blue Islands website at www.blueislands.com/LUX
