Deputy John Gollop is due to be confirmed as first in line to perform the duties of acting Presiding Officer of the States of Deliberation.
If the Bailiff is indisposed, cannot oversee a States meeting, or called away during a meeting, first in line to step up as Acting Presiding Officer is one John Alfred Bannerman Gollop.
Deputy Gollop has been a regular name near the top of election results, both on a parochial and latterly an island-wide basis.
The Father of The House is followed by Deputies Peter Roffey and Lyndon Trott. The order of seniority is decided by the longest unbroken run as a member of the States. The three Deputies have been nominated in their respective order and should be confirmed at the next States meeting on 28 April.
The Bailiff of Guernsey is the ex-officio Presiding Officer. It is the Presiding Officer's duty to maintain order, moderate debate and regulate the conduct of business.
