Waves waits to hear about re-instating single seat sales

As the airline seeks to launch a new scenic flights service, Waves tells Express it is seeing continued demand for its existing inter island services.

Waves had to stop selling individual seats between Guernsey and Jersey but it is hoping to hear back from the Transport Licensing Authority on an application it made to resume that business model shortly.

The airline announced this week it has applied to the TLA for a licence to offer scenic flights in and out of Guernsey Airport which has been met with positivity from its customer base.

Those scenic flights would be run as an on-demand service with no set frequency, but a spokesman for Waves said the schedules would likely be set to "operate in the middle of the day to satisfy cruise ship timetables and work within the existing demand we have for inter-island travel".

Matt Bisson added that while the initial scenic flights service would operate out of Guernsey Airport, because the Waves aircraft is based in the island, the idea could be expanded across the Channel Islands: "Similar services could be operated out of the other islands when the fleet expands and subject to demand".

Mr Bisson says "many groups, corporate, sports and social, have taken advantage of the great price and flexible offering" from Waves so the airline is expecting a scenic flights services to also be busy.

He told Express the negotiations with the TLA about reinstating the air taxi service on an individual seat-by-seat basis are continuing too:

"The TLA submission deadline has passed and we are looking forward to hearing from them shortly. Waves continues to operate an air taxi service. We are currently selling the entire aircraft as an 'on demand' air taxi model with positive uptake from Islanders. We are confident we will roll out individual seat sales again very soon".
