Now Guernsey's secondary schools are 'non-selective' the amount of time for parents and carers to request a different school for their child to the partner sites decided by Education Services is running out.
Under the new system, all primary schools have been partnered with secondary schools, which means if your child is, for example, currently in year six at Vale Primary they will go to St Sampson's Secondary High, if they're in year six at Castel Primary they'll go to Les Beaucamps, if they're in year six at Vauvert they'll be going to La Mare de Carteret and if they're in year six at Amherst they'll be going to Les Varendes (the current Grammar School).

While the partner school system has been designed to make transition simpler for pupils, it's acknowledged it won't work for everyone so parents/carers can request an 'out of catchment area/partner site' change to a more suitable school location.
The deadline for doing that is Friday 11 January, giving parents/carers just a few more days to fill in the forms and return them to Education Services.
The forms needed are all available online at gov.gg.

In the future there will only be two States run secondary school sites in Guernsey - likely to be at the current St Sampson's High and Les Beaucamps High schools, if the States agree to the latest phase of the plans for transforming secondary education.
That means some pupils who will attend school at the current Grammar School site and the current La Mare de Carteret High School site may have to move to one of the other campuses.
More information on all of the plans is available online here.
