Guernsey Police has launched a campaign to stop people riding their bikes at night without any lights.
The 'Be Safe. Be Smart. Be Seen.' campaign is targeting islanders who are riding in the dark without a light to illuminate them to other road users.
A spokesman for Law Enforcement said they wanted to give people the chance to do the right thing before enforcing fines.
"Starting today and continuing through the winter months we are running a campaign to keep cyclists safe," they wrote on their social media pages. "If you don't fit lights to your bike and then ride after dark or in poor visibility, we are going to stop you.
"And we are going to give you a £40 ticket. But in Who Wants to be a Millionaire style: we don't want to give you that!

"So we're going to give you a chance. Go to Cycle World, Ian Browns or Adventure Cycles to buy a set of lights.
"Bring the receipt and your ticket into the station. We will cancel the ticket. You're then safe and happy. We'll be happy you're safe."
Ahead of the changing of the clocks, Guernsey Bicycle Group Chairman Sam Field also made an impassioned plea to cyclists to follow safety protocols by having fixed, permanent (not flashing) lights whilst cycling in the hours of darkness.
