Condor has cancelled today's sailing from Guernsey to Jersey, but has secured a private airline charter to pick up the slack.
The Liberation is running on reduced power under instruction from its engine manufacturer, meaning some sailings will take longer while others were cancelled.
"Our ship's engine manufacturer will carry out preventative maintenance that involves replacing main fuel pumps," a spokesperson for the ferry service said. "We hope to be on full power soon.
"We apologise for the inconvenience and delays caused and thank you for your patience and understanding."
Any foot passengers wishing to travel on the chartered flight can book by calling 0345 609 1026.
