“Complicated vessel movements” leads to late publication of half term sailings

Additional sailings have been put on by Condor to allow people to sail to and from France over the half term holiday more easily.

Concerns were originally raised by members of the public who were trying to book sailings to and from France for the half term school holidays. The issue being that there were sailings to France early in the week but none back to Guernsey on the following Saturday or Sunday, leaving people forced to book a Monday return instead.

One person told Express that it didn’t make any sense to have the only return sailing on the day people go back to school and work.

Condor has since explained that a “very tidal weekend in the islands” led to complicated tidal issues that needed to be resolved before the return sailings could be confirmed.

It was therefore decided not to publish those weekend sailing dates for a few days in case there was a need to make changes leading to greater passenger inconvenience,” a spokesperson for Condor said.

These challenges have been addressed so St Malo to Guernsey services have now been added on Saturday 01 June at 12:20 and on Sunday 02 June at 14:10.

Passengers who have already booked on alternative sailings can switch to either of these free of charge.
