A 21-year-old woman has been given a 100-hour community service order for assaulting a security guard in Folies nightclub.
Caitlin Gill was dancing in Folies during the early hours of 23 September.
There was an altercation between a group of people that culminated in Gill and another woman pushing each other, an unfolding incident that was noticed by a security guard on the balcony above the dancefloor.
They called for support and several security guards came to break up the fight, where both women ended up holding on to each other’s hair. They were eventually separated, and Gill was taken to the floor where she kicked out at a security guard.
He was hit in the face, arms and legs. Despite this, the victim managed to get Gill outside where she was promptly arrested by the police.
Judge Garry Parry sentenced Gill to 100 hours community service as a direct alternative to three months youth detention.
