Guernsey Chest & Heart LBG is offering everyone the chance to climb Victoria Tower to raise funds and awareness.
In the first event of its kind, the charity is launching The Brave Heart Victoria Tower Challenge, promising it will get participants' "hearts pumping".
The unique challenge will raise funds for vital community healthcare work and celebrate the Chest & Heart clinic's upcoming 50th anniversary in November.
Centre Manager Caroline Ogier said: "As we come up to our 50th anniversary of supporting the health service in the Bailiwick it seemed fitting to hold a fund-raising event that would really challenge people to test their heart health and support a vital local charity."
Inspired by the Paris Olympics, the challenge will involve climbing Victoria Tower five times, which is equivalent to climbing the Eiffel Tower.
The Tower stands at 100-feet, although organisers say there is no requirement to climb right to the top. Participants are welcome to take on only one or two floors, or to complete the challenge in a relay team.
The organisers estimate that the climb would take about 20-25 minutes to complete, and staff will be on site from 09:00 to 16:00 to welcome participants.
Ms Ogier says the challenge is not a race, but rather "an endurance challenge for people to test their stamina and get their hearts pumping."
Victoria Tower was built in 1848 to commemorate the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert to the island, but this is the first time that the tower has been used for an event of this nature.
There are 99 steps up a steep spiral staircase to reach the top, where there is a panoramic view across Guernsey's west, north and east coasts.
The event takes place on Sunday 8 September in St Peter Port’s Victoria Tower.
Individuals under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The entry fee is £10 per person, and climbers can also collect sponsorship forms to raise more money. All proceeds will go directly to the charity, which relies entirely on donations and corporate support to operate.
