It was a year of firsts in 2023 for the charity Headway.
The charity speaks to Express about the highlights of the year, the challenges, and what Headway is looking forward to in 2024.
“We had the privilege of taking part in a group surfing session with Jersey based charity Healing Waves at Vazon in the summer. Laurel Le Tocq kindly invited us to attend with a group of Headway members and it was a career highlight for staff!
“We have the privilege of meeting some members whilst they are still in hospital so it was very emotional and inspiring to witness these same people showing pure tenacity whilst riding waves in the ocean. Just incredible!
“We hosted our first Headway fun run which proved to be a great success and we are already looking forward to organising another in 2024.”
“As an independent charity with no States funding, our challenge every year is fundraising to maintain the services we provide at Headway Guernsey.”
“We look forward to continuing our services at Headway House and providing support to islanders in our community who have suffered an acquired brain injury.
“We hope to maintain a working relationship with the brain injury team at the PEH in order to provide continuity of care to patients.”
