2023 was a big year for the charity GROW, who moved into their new premises.
The charity speaks to Express about the highlights of the year, the challenges, and what GROW is looking forward to in 2024.
“2023 was a pivotal year for Grow with the transition into our newly redeveloped premises,” said GROW.
“These have been designed specifically for enhancing the opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and difficulties. Another accomplishment was the successful reestablishment of our Friends of Grow (FroGs) who helped with our open day and hugely successful Christmas Fayre.
“Through the year's massive shifts, the resilience of our crew members has been outstanding.”
"2023 was not without its hurdles. The logistical challenges of conducting our operations out of a temporary site while it was demolished around us were immense. Additionally, the growing financial pressures, triggered by the rising cost of living and the redevelopment of our premises, has posed significant challenges.
“The scale of transformation required was monumental, involving not only a physical relocation but also a cultural shift to become one of Guernsey's most prominent charities.”
“Looking ahead to 2024, we are filled with anticipation and hope. We eagerly await the arrival of new members joining the Grow crew, which we have not been able to offer since 2022. Our service expansion continues with additional opportunities now available in the Training Café, workshop, arts, retail, and administration areas.
“As we commemorate our 40th anniversary, we're planning a series of celebratory events, including a summer fayre and a celebratory ball, among other activities. As we strive to increase our presence within the community, we look forward to forging new partnerships and raising awareness about learning disabilities.”
