A chance to perform and hear the Fauré Requiem

Friday 04 October 2024

Nearly 100 singers from across the Bailiwick will join together this weekend to perform in a unique fundraiser.

They will be performing a ‘Come and Sing’ Fauré Requiem tomorrow at St Stephen’s Church.

The aim is to raise money for the Guernsey Multiple Sclerosis Society.

There are two different opportunities to get involved with supporters encouraged to come and hear the singers in the short free concert at 18:00.

The singers will have started much earlier though - gathering from 15:00 to prepare for the tea time performance.

Singers who have not yet registered can still join in.

The event is the brainchild of Helen Grand, conductor of Guernsey Chamber Choir who will conduct the work as part of the Guernsey Choral Festival.

"I am very excited that so many singers have registered to take part in the event," she said. "I am looking forward to conducting this lovely piece to raise funds for such a worthy cause."

David Clark, on behalf of the Trustees of MS Guernsey said they are very grateful to the singers, and to the audience, for making this event happen.

"All of the funds raised will be used to provide care and a variety of support measures for those in our community who are affected by this debilitating condition. Any money raised will be most thankfully appreciated."
