A 41-gun salute will be held at Castle Cornet today in tribute to Prince Philip, following the Duke's death yesterday morning.
The salute will begin at midday, led by Battery Commander Rob Grant, who formerly served with the Reconnaissance Platoon of the Royal Hampshire Infantry Regiment
The guns will be fired at one-minute intervals to coincide with similar gun salutes held in London and other places around the British Isles.
At 11:00, a half-muffled quarter peal is expected to be rung on the bells of the Town Church. After the quarter peal, a bell will be tolled 99 times from midday.
@GvHouseGuernsey learned with great sadness of the death of HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His long life was the epitome of loyalty, commitment, service and good humour, and stands as an inspiration to us all. He will be sorely missed by the people of this Bailiwick. pic.twitter.com/4rObgFI4J8
