The States are being asked to give their nod of approval to Boris Johnson's EU withdrawal deal, ahead of it potentially being ratified at the end of this month, meaning our politicians and civil servants will be able to carry on working on the island's Brexit plans.
The new Policy & Resources policy letter asks the States to approve work to ensure the interests of Guernsey are always represented in any negotiations between the UK and EU, and ensuring any future protocol or agreement fits the Bailiwick's needs.
One of these key needs is to ensure the island keeps its unique relationship with the Crown, and maintains its autonomy, something that will no doubt come up in trade talks between Westminster and Brussels.
Finally, if approved, the policy letter will trigger the development of any legislation needed to cleanly bring in Boris Johnson's deal.

It also contains a comprehensive catalogue of all of the actions the States have taken to move Brexit forward from Guernsey's point of view, and ensure the island is prepared for it.
