Students offered higher education advice

Sunday 17 March 2019

Careers Guernsey is holding a Higher Education Event this week, offering information and advice on studying in the island or elsewhere.

More than 40 representatives will be available to talk about degree programmes, funding options, taking a year out and studying abroad.

The event will take place on Tuesday 19 March from 13:00-16:00 at the Grammar School and includes 32 different subject talks covering English, Biology and Biomedical Science, Volunteering Abroad, Primary Teaching, Cyber Security, Photography, Nursing and Midwifery and Geography.

It is primarily aimed at students in full time, post-16 education but is open to anyone interested in finding out more about higher education opportunities.

Head of Careers Guernsey, Sarah Stonebridge said: "Careers Guernsey aims to increase awareness of the breadth of opportunity to study higher education. Even with online access to information, feedback from students tells us that they really value talking face to face with exhibitors to help them find out the most up-to-date information relating to their individual needs.

"We are also aware that not everyone wants to go or can go away to university, so we are including study options on-island, taking a year out and information about our Careers and Skills Show in April which will showcase employment and training opportunities. We look forward to welcoming students, teachers and parents/carers to these events over the next few weeks to support their career planning."

Students can register their attendance through their school or college and those who are not in full time education can sign up by emailing GuernseyHEevent@gov.gg.

More information on the upcoming events is available at careers.gg.
