One of Guernsey's residential care homes is closing - with recruitment problems blamed.
It was confirmed this afternoon that Blossom Fields, in the Forest, is having to close with Health and Social Care helping the 'valued care home provider' deal with its residents by helping to 'rehouse residents as quickly and sensitively as possible'.

Blossom Fields is registered as accommodation for people aged 55 and over. Some of its residents will have additional needs with HSC saying all 'specific needs' will be considered when rehoming is planned.
The Manager of the care home, released a statement to Express saying; "it is with much regret that the management advise the closure of Blossom Fields Care Home on 31 October 2019."
The statement continued saying; "this has not been an easy decision to make, but along with the resignation of the Care Manager for her position and general difficulties in recruiting suitably qualified staff, which appears to be an island wide problem, it has left us with no other option."
While no further comment will be made, and the manager has said no interviews will be given, they said; "our main focus is now to ensure that both our residents and staff are supported during this difficult time."

In its statement, HSC said it "has been given notice by a valued care home provider that it intends to close its services at the end of October.
"Social Workers from Adult Community Services are in the process of liaising with residents and the Care Home Manager to understand their specific needs and support individuals and their families to make a decision about their ongoing care with another provider.
"HSC cannot comment on behalf of the provider as to the specific reasons it has taken this decision but will work with its management team to rehouse residents as quickly and sensitively as possible."
