Car collides with pedestrian in Fountain Street

A woman was taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Fountain Street.

The pedestrian received treatment on scene from St John Ambulance before being taken to the hospital.

The incident happened at around 12:45 yesterday and the blue Nissan Micra was travelling up the street at the time. There is scaffolding outside numerous shopfronts, however it is not yet known whether this obstruction had any part to play in the incident. 

The street was closed off at both ends while police investigated the scene. The road was re-opened at 13:40.
