More trouble has hit Aurigny’s services after its newest ATR G-PEMB was forced to fly to Dinard for unplanned maintenance.
The States-owned airline said flights to and from Liverpool had to be cancelled today as a result, with several other routes facing prolonged delays.
“Customers on cancelled flights have been rebooked onto the next available services,” Sudeep Ghai, Aurigny’s Chief Commercial Officer, said. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers affected by the disruption.
“We are currently in the process of securing additional wet-leased capacity, which will be in service early next week.”
G-PEMB, the fourth permanent ATR in the fleet secured on a long-term lease, only started operating on 9 August but was pulled from routes for maintenance following the teething period.
It returned to service days later and has flown regularly since then. But it had to unexpectedly head for Dinard, where Aurigny regularly service its aircraft off-island, at 12:35 and returned to the island later in the afternoon.
Just this week political and operational leaders who oversee Aurigny met with senior executives at the airline for talks, with the fragility of the fleet and reliability put under the microscope.
The airline says passengers affected should check up-to-date flight information on its website.
