Call out for entries to iconic Harbour Carnival events

Thursday 04 July 2024

There’s still time to put your name down for one of the many iconic events at the Harbour Carnival this year.

Whether you fancy the Man Powered Flight or Ladies Dinghy Race, the public are being urged to come forward and have a go.

“The big competitive one is the Tug of War,” explains Oscar Webber, the President of the charitable organisation which organises the event each year, the Round Table.

It’s always, every yearwon by the Harbour Lights. So, they really want to have some proper competition this year!

"Could we have someone put up a rugby team perhaps? Or maybe the police want to give it a go? We’re always looking for people to stir up the pot!”

Oscar says that they’re always on the look out for teams to be put forward for the events.

"Last year we had countless people and countless teams entering... it can be a group of friends, you can be a work group.

“At the moment we're specifically looking for more people to join the Tug of War and the Man Powered Flight, which are both really fun, really interactive events and are really good to watch.

The Harbour Carnival will be taking place on 23 August and you can find out more information about getting involved ONLINE.
