British Airways to fly two Guernsey routes

Tuesday 11 May 2021

British Airways is launching routes between Guernsey, Edinburgh and London City this summer using one of its Embraer jets.

The London City to Guernsey and Guernsey to Edinburgh services will be operating twice a week from 25 June.

BA CityFlyer Managing Director Tom Stoddart said there is an opportunity to revive the Guernsey-London City route - which was scrapped by Aurigny in 2017 due to low demand - and to connect directly with the Scottish capital.

“We’re confident our new route from London City Airport to Guernsey will be popular this summer with customers looking for a UK getaway," he said.

"And, it’s an honour to be launching the only direct service between Guernsey and Edinburgh this summer.”

With some uncertainty remaining over the effects of the pandemic, he reiterated that the airline has a flexible booking policy that allows customers to exchange their booking for a voucher or move their dates without incurring a change fee if their plans change.

What is the Embraer 190?

BA CityFlyer, British Airways' wholly-owned subsidiary, operates the Embraer 190 aircraft from London City Airport to domestic and European routes.

The Embraer 190 is a narrow-body, twin-engine jet airliner manufactured by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. BA CityFlyer operates the aircraft from London City airport to UK and European destinations.

The aircraft is a low wing design with engines mounted below the wings. The wings of the Embraer 190 are fitted with winglets, which reduces the drag and provides increased lift and improved efficiency.
