Large crowds are expected at the funeral of Irish born Guernsey resident Louise Furey today.
The body of the 27-year-old was transported back to Ireland earlier in the week before a Mass today in her honour.
Ms Furey died in Thailand recently, after falling from the balcony of her resort room. She was visiting the country with her boyfriend from Guernsey. The couple were just days into their dream holiday when the tragedy happened.
While the funeral is taking place in her home town of Glenties, Donegal, Ms Furey had been resident in Guernsey for a number of years, and had recently started a career with Health & Social Care's children's services.
An Irish charity called the Kevin Ball Repatriation Trust was involved in the process of arranging for her body to be flown back to Ireland. It had been set up to support the families of those who pass away while overseas.
Ms Furey's family is said to be well known in her home town of Glenties, and the community there have reportedly rallied behind them following her death.
A large number of mourners are expected to attend today's funeral Mass which is due to start at 11am. A wake has been underway for the past two days allowing mourners the chance to pay their respects at the family home.
