One of Guernsey's cycle paths is being made safer - through the very simple addition of some blue paint.
The first section, on the way to the Baubigny Schools, appeared recently while some other roadworks were taking place in the area.
The part of the cycle path near the St Sampson's Constables Office, has been painted blue, at the junction of Rue de Bas and Les Murier/Duveaux Lane.

A spokesperson for Traffic and Highways Services says that blue paint will be added to more sections of the path near Le Murier and St Sampson's High schools too, to make it safer at junctions.
"Where the cycle path along Baubigny crosses a junction, the path is due to be painted in blue to make it more visible to drivers.
"Work has begun at the Rue de Bas junction, but due to weather conditions this has not been completed. The path through the Duveaux Lane junction will then be painted."
The cycle path network around the Baubigny area was created when Le Murier and St Sampson's High schools were opened in 2008.

The cycle path acts as a contra-flow so that bike riders, which include school pupils and other members of the public, can make their way to their destination against the flow of traffic using the road.
The cycle path covers the road network between the St Sampson's Constables Office, Oatlands and the filter by Hautes Capelles Primary School.
