Sarah Montague has agreed to be patron of the Blanchelande College Alumni.
The well known broadcaster is a former pupil of the College, attending the school when it was run as a boarding and day school for girls only at the former convent in St Martins, which has since been converted into a care home and sheltered housing.
Ms Montague attended the school in the late 1970s and early 1980s and is well remembered by fellow pupils and staff of the time. During her time at the school she was awarded a Biology trophy among other accolades.
She went on to study biology at the University of Bristol, before pursuing a career as a stockbroker in London.
In 1991 Ms Montague changed career path and began working for Channel Television in Guernsey before later working for Reuters, Sky News and the BBC. She has presented shows including Newsnight on BBC 2 and the Today programme on Radio 4.
Announcing Ms Montague's decision to accept the role of patron of the school's alumni association, Blanchelande College said it was "delighted":
Blanchelande College is now based at Les Vauxbelets and accepts both girls and boys from the ages of four. It's Alumni Association can be contacted here.
