Beaucette now want safari tents instead of glamping pods

Planning permission has been submitted to install six self-catering safari tents at Beaucette Marina in a field for which change of use was approved earlier this year.

At the time of the planning application to change the use of the field from agricultural to mixed use, Beaucette intended to build seven glamping pods.

However, following discussions with suppliers, they have since decided that it would be better to install portable safari tents which would be used on a seasonal basis and then taken down.

“The tents will be located to the southern edge of the marina in a similar location to the previously-approved pods,” said George Nichols from Tyrell Dowinton Architects.

“In order to provide some natural landscaping to the area surrounding the proposed tents, we are proposing to sow the remaining area of the field in wildflower seeds to provide a large pollinator patch."

In addition to putting up the tents, the planning application includes the relocation of the boatyard access road.

“By relocating the road, it will not only provide better views for the tents but will also provide a safe and traffic-free area in front for the occupiers to enjoy,” said Mr Nichols.

The relocated road would be kept as far away from the boundaries of Beaucette as possible to reduce the impact on neighbours.
