Armed police were called to Victoria Avenue on Tuesday evening, after a "group of males" were reported to have a "weapon", which is now believed to be a BB gun after pellets were found in the area.
Armed officers were sent to the road leading to The Track and the former Bowl building after a member of public reported a group who they believed had a weapon on them.
The road was cordoned off and residents were reportedly unable to enter their homes while a search was carried out.
A spokesman for Law Enforcement said officers were stood down following the discovery of BB pellets, however they are keen to identify and speak to the group involved.
"Earlier this evening firearms officers were deployed to Victoria Avenue after a member of the public called police to report a group of males and what they believed to have been a weapon," they said.
“Officers closed the road and conducted a thorough search. Following the discovery of BB pellets in the area reported to us, officers were stood down.
“Anyone who knows the identity of the group of males, or someone from the group themselves is asked to call 725111.”
