Berthing trials for Brittany Ferries’ Barfleur are scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon.
The move follows successful berthing trials with the ship in Jersey two weeks ago, but a similar exercise planned for Guernsey was delayed because of poor weather.
“Our aim with both berthing trials has been to test the capabilities and constraints that might allow us to bring a ship like Barfleur to the islands if needed,” said Christophe Mathieu CEO of Brittany Ferries and interim CEO Condor Ferries.
“It’s important because fleet flexibility is key to bringing greater resilience to the islands in the months and years ahead.”
She is scheduled to arrive at 17:00.
Brittany Ferries is a shareholder in Condor alongside Columbia Threadneedle Investments.
Barfleur is Brittany Ferries’ 157m ropax vessel.
It can carry 900 passengers and 590 cars and currently serves the Poole to Cherbourg route for the company.
In comparison, the Condor Liberation is 102m and carries 800 passengers.
