Awards beckon for Golden Goat Films

Friday 12 January 2024

A Guernsey based film production company has won and been shortlisted for a number of awards at some of the industry's smaller film festivals.

‘Bet Your Bottom Dollar’ - produced by Golden Goat Films - has been announced as a winner in three categories at the Tatras International Film Festival, a winner in one category at the Sweden Film Awards and a winner and a shortlisted finalist in two categories at the EdiPlay International Film Festival.

The short film tells the story of addiction through the eyes of a gambler. It is produced by Brandon Ashplant and stars his brother Cameron in the leading role.

César Award nominated French Actor Marc Duret, and well-known British actor Paterson Joseph are the voices behind two unseen roles while Oscar nominated producer Jonathan Tammuz worked with Brandon on the editing process, and The Mandlorian composer, Omar El-Deeb worked on the music score.

Together this production team are now seeing their hardwork paying off with positive feedback within the industry.

The Tatras festival "combines film, music and visual arts" and features can be self submitted.

The Golden Goat Films team put forward their short film with Cameron Ashplant winning the Best Actor accolade, Brandon Ashplant won Best Director Short Film, and the film itself won Honorable Mention for Best Short Film.

The feature won the award for Best Producer at the Sweden Film Awards, with Paterson Joseph named as Best Supporting Actor at the Parisian EdiPlay festival.

This festival says it "personifies the guts of filmmaking, the non-stop effort to push the barriers of the accepted norm, and the never-ending struggle to evolve the midway".

Golden Goat Films submitted its production, Bet Your Bottom Dollar for this festival too, with it being named a Finalist in the best Best Short Film category.

Bet Your Bottom Dollar has also been accepted as part of the Official Selection at the Movie Play International Film Festival with the shortlisted finalists for the festival due to be announced.
