Another speed record for Zef Eisenberg

Wednesday 22 August 2018

Guernsey resident, Zef Eisenberg has set another speed record on one of his MADMAX race bikes.

The speed demon continues to put his 2016 crash behind him as he races towards making his mark in the history books for his record breaking times.

That accident, which saw him come off his bike at 230mph was described as "the fastest motorbike crash" in British history. But since then Mr Eisenberg has continued to defy his critics by rebuilding his bike and attempting and succeeding at reaching ever increasing speeds.

His fully rebuilt 560hp, 234mph turbine bike hit 201.5mph to set the world's fastest ever speed on sand at Elvington earlier this year and now Mr Eisenberg has set another British land speed record of 224.8mph on his Green Monster Hayabusa "sand racer" again at Elvington in Yorkshire.

Mr Eisenberg said reaching these speeds is liking finding the "holy grail."

"Having set all the World and Guiness records there were to achieve on the Rolls Royce powered turbine bike, I wanted to set our sights on the holy grail, 200mph + on sand," he said.

"That was a goal we achieved in May 2018, after three years of trying. The bike has been plagued with engine and fuelling problems, over the last year, so we decided to strip the engine down and rebuild it to the highest spec. We added some clever new modifications and the result has been fantastic, with more reliable power than ever before.

"The bike feels really stable, like a bullet train. It’s a complex build, using a super charger (not turbo) for very smooth linear power, an essential ingredient when racing on the beach to stop the tyres losing traction from the power spikes often experienced with Turbo powered bikes."

Mr Eisenberg isn't likely to be resting on his laurels any time soon. He has already said he has his eyes set on another race and he wants to set another record with his Guernsey built machine.

"With our new record of 224.8mph under our belt, we are excited for the next big world sand record showdown in September at Pendine Beach in Wales. Several of Europe's best sand racers are keen to beat my speed, so we feel obliged to defend our record and push the speed higher again."

Mr Eisenberg and his MADMAX team are based in Guernsey and he has always used island based engineers and other talent where possible.

"I would like to thank my amazing team; Miguel, Gail and girlfriend Mirella for their support and help," he said.
