Off-duty staff had to be called as St John Ambulance saw a busy weekend, with three people injured in a car accident among the incidents the emergency services had to attend.
In just 24 hours on Saturday, the ambulance service had 22 call outs, which meant their on-duty staff needed back up support from their off-duty colleagues.
Among the call outs between 00:01 and 23:59 on Saturday, the Emergency Ambulance Service dealt with a road traffic collision near the junction of Footes Lane and Les Varendes.
The emergency services were called out just after 19:00 after two cars collided. Two ambulances, a paramedic and an Incident Officer had to attend the scene. along with Guernsey Police and Guernsey Fire and Rescue Service, putting pressure on resources elsewhere at an already busy time, with two separate medical cases also ongoing.
The RTC left two patients needing hospital treatment at the Emergency Department at the PEH, while a woman was discharged after being treated at the scene. The two needing hospital treatment had been travelling in the same car.
