Billy Le Poullain has been named the Channel Islands' Sports Personality of the Year

The Alderney born boxer has lived in Guernsey for the last seven years and is already tipped for the top, ahead of his trip to Australia for the Commonwealth Games this summer representing the Bailiwick.

He'll be fighting under the Sarnian flag then but he'll have the support of the whole Bailiwick after proving his popularity at this year's Channel Islands Sports Award.

Mr Le Poullain beat Guernsey athlete Cameron Chalmers, Jersey BMX rider Alex Coleborn and Jersey archer Lucy O'Sullivan to be named Sports Personality of the Year after winning the public vote.

Having spent eleven years training hard, he has his eye on the Gold Coast and is busy preparing for the Commonwealth Games.
