Acute medicine consultant takes up permanent position

Tuesday 16 August 2022

Dr Beejal Patel has been appointed as the Medical Specialist Group’s permanent acute medicine consultant, after two years as a locum.

Dr Patel comes to Guernsey after originally training at St George’s Hospital in London. She then worked at Poole hospital after completing her specialist training in 2016.

“Beejal is an excellent addition to the department of medicine and the wider MSG,” said Dr Steve Evans.

“Her main focus has been acute medicine, but she is developing her subspeciality interest in syncope.”

Dr Patel supported service improvements in Poole during her time there, and was responsible for developing a nurse led outpatient follow up clinic.

“She has made a seamless transition from being a locum to a permanent member of the team and we are all looking forward to working with her in the years ahead,” concluded Dr Evans.
