Policy & Resources has been told that up to £7m. needs to be spent on the bridge leading to Castle Cornet.
The project now needs to come to the States for approval, with full details expected to be published shortly.
P&R President Deputy Peter Ferbrache revealed that the project will cost between £6.5 and £7m. during the school’s debate this morning.
It was given as an example of how expensive capital projects in the island can be.
The States Trading Supervisory Board is responsible for the proposal.
Safety measures have been in place. In 2021 stainless steel cables were put in to stop people walking underneath the bridge due to the risk of falling concrete.
Over the past five years £375,000 has been spent on monitoring and analysing the bridge.
