The six richest residents in the Channel Islands alone are worth more than the top 27 richest in the entire country of Wales.
The statistics have been compiled as part of the Sunday Times Rich List which is published every year showing the top 1000 richest in Britain.
The 2019 list shows that Brecqhou's Barclay brothers (pictured above) have regained the top spot, with £8 billion between them, which is a £600 million increase on what they were worth last year. They've taken the top spot for 2019 from Roman Abramovich who has lost his residential status in Jersey since last year's list was compiled.
Among their business portfolio, the Barclay's own The Telegraph newspaper, Littlewoods and very.co.uk. They are 17th overall on the national rich list rankings this year. The full Channel Islands' table can be viewed below or on the Sunday Times website.
The total wealth among the 19 richest in the Channel Islands who made it onto the list is £22.855 billion with the top six accounting for £17.757 billion of that figure. The 27 rich list entrants on the Welsh list are worth a combined wealth of £15.485 billion with number two on the list being Douglas Perkins who also features at number 4 the Channel Islands list, with his wife, Dame Mary Perkins.

According to the newspaper, "The Channel Islands Rich List includes people born in the Channel Islands, those living there, or with significant assets or businesses based on the islands."
Guernsey resident Steve Lansdown (no. 5) recently purchased La Grande Mare Hotel and Golf Club and is expected to make a large investment in the west coast site. He also owns other businesses under the name Pula. Jersey residents Sir Philip Green and Lady Green who own the Arcadia Group which comprises of Topshop, Burton and Dorothy Perkins among others experienced the biggest loss of this year's regional listings with his billionaire status stripped after a difficult year for his business. The couple live in Monaco.
