A company that creates greeting cards filled with seeds that grow into edible plants has been receiving attention on Kickstarter for its unusual product.
Clorofille, a start-up from Denmark, designs unusual cards which grow into vegetable “microgreens” that are edible when fully grown. In just a week, recipients of Growing Greetings can use the greens in their recipes.
Giulia Cavalli, founder of Clorofille said: “It is always amusing to witness a seed turn into a plant, but even more so if it turns into a monster, a beard or an owl!
“At Clorofille, we see plants as more than decorative, but essential to a happy and healthy life, and that’s why you can eat the microgreens right out of your card.”
Available in owl, monster and beard shapes, every card contains a package of seeds and a hemp mat to grow them on.
The plants should appear in seven to ten days.
The product has already received nearly £2,000 of its £5,875 goal from Kickstarter backers after being launched on March 22.
