PlayStation turned to the power of exclusivity to make its case to still be considered the biggest name in games ahead of E3.
The strength of Sony’s games library has long been accepted to be its exclusive titles, and the firm chose to focus on such titles – the likes of The Last Of Us Part II and Spider-Man – as it opened its E3 show.
In stark contrast to Xbox and the more than 50 games Microsoft showed off at its own event on Sunday, PlayStation said it wanted to go “deeper” into a smaller section of games.

The first gameplay footage of the sequel to the Bafta-winning original is finally here, and it shows Ellie once again fighting for her life.
The trailer had some tender moments too, and the soundtrack once again sounds like a stunning addition to the experience.

As the short clip shows, long-standing sharp-witted Guardian Cayde-6 is being killed off in the new expansion to Destiny 2, making it a landmark moment in the series. What it means remains to be seen.
A brand new action game which looks as though it plans to push the boundaries of physics among many other things, Control was one of the unexpected inclusions of the showcase.
With some aspects that feel similar to 2016’s Xbox title Quantum Break, Control seems likely to be a future major player in the sci-fi genre.
To finish, Sony turned to another of its forthcoming exclusives – Spider-Man.
Showing gameplay set in the middle of a large-scale prison breakout, the incredible open world nature of the game has struck an excited chord with gamers.
Spider-Man’s combat and the way in reach the environment can be used to move as well as take on enemies was also widely on display in the trailer.
