Facebook is looking to the past with a new feature enabling users to look at old activities on the social network.
The new Memories page is an extension of Facebook’s On This Day feature, which shows users what they were doing on the network on exactly the same day in past years. This includes friends added, videos posted and who wrote on the user’s wall.
The Memories page will include these features, as well as round-ups of seasons or months with heavy activity in video form and memories you may have missed if you haven’t logged onto Facebook in a few days.
Unlike On This Day, however, users will be able to look back using a dedicated page, which can be found in the “More” section of the app or the menu on the left hand side of the website on a browser.
The social network says it is also mindful that some memories are best left in the past, and has been researching how to lessen those memories popping up over the last three years.
