Facebook is rolling out a new mode that will enable users to lip sync to songs while using the social network app’s Facebook Live feature.
Lip Sync Live includes a built-in list of songs users can choose from, Facebook says, as well as customisation options to personalise the videos they capture.
The new tool draws some comparisons with the musical.ly video social network, where singing and lip syncing to songs is already a common post from users.
In Lip Sync Live, the artist and song selected will be highlighted on the video, with viewers able to tap the name to follow that artist on the social network.
Facebook said the feature would contain a mixture of classic songs and new tracks, and is being made available to users globally.
The social network also said it was working with the music industry to enable people to include more music in their videos.
The firm said it was already testing new experiences “in several markets”, and hoped to make it more widely available to users soon.
“We’re exploring more ways to bring music to Facebook. In the coming months, we’ll start testing options for adding the music you love to Facebook Stories,” the company said.
“We’re looking forward to continuing to work with the music industry to create new ways for people to connect and express themselves through music across our family of apps.”
