Battery maker Energizer has launched a range of long-life smartphones in the UK, some of which it claims can last more than two weeks on a single charge.
The company has released 13 different handsets, including the £400 Power Max P600S, which contains a battery able to last up to 16 days on standby or 12 hours of constant 4G talk time, the firm said.
By comparison, most modern smartphones are limited to a battery life of between one and two days.
Some of the new devices are equipped with larger batteries than are typically found in smartphones – the Power Max P550S contains a 5000mAh battery the company says can last up to 20 days on standby – compared to the around 3000mAh batteries most commonly used in other phones.
Energizer’s phones range from £15 to £400 and also include several of the highly durable devices called the Hardcase collection, which are water resistant and dust proof.
The phones are licensed by French firm Avenir Telecom, whose chief executive Robert Schiano said they were keen to offer alternatives to the industry’s established names.
“Our new range of long-lasting phones give consumers one of the best possible battery life performances as well as superb durability, meaning that these phones have the potential to go on and on,” he said.
“Within the range we have phones to suit all tastes and budgets – and although our handsets are super-practical they have a high spec and contain all the features you’d expect from a sleek smartphone, so we believe that they tick all the boxes.”
Most of the smartphones in the line-up run on Google’s Android operating system and feature high-specification cameras, but there are also several “rugged” devices, Energizer says.
One such device, the Hardcase H240S, can last for up to 30 minutes underwater and withstand drops from more than a metre high, the company claims.
