Four in 10 people have deliberately killed their characters in computer game The Sims.

A survey by YouGov found that 41% of Sims players admitted purposefully ending the life of one of their characters.

The game involves creating people, called Sims, and environments for them to live in. The aim of the game is to develop Sims by satisfying their desires and regulating their moods.

Unfortunately, it seems that a number of users prefer to give their Sims grisly deaths.

The survey, which polled 3,222 British adults, also found that women were more likely to end their Sims’ lives.

As many as 46% of females admitted killing off their characters, compared with 36% of male players.

So how are people choosing to get rid of their Sims?

Most popular was drowning them in a swimming pool by removing the ladder, followed by starting a fire, and starving them.

The poll didn’t just produce bad news, though.

The majority of players considered the well-being of their Sims, with 58% stating that they have fulfilled their Sims’ goals, and 69% encouraging them to have a successful career.
