Apple has updated its MacBook Pro models, with faster processors that will switch performance speeds up several notches.
The Californian firm has included more powerful processors on board its 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro models, as well as better displays and a quieter keyboard.
Choosing the highest – and most expensive – options on the new 15-inch Touch Bar variant sees performance up to 70% faster than before, while its smaller 13-inch counterpart doubles performance times.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said: “The latest generation MacBook Pro is the fastest and most powerful notebook we’ve ever made.”
The iPhone maker has employed the latest chips from Intel to deliver the speed, ranging from 6-core Intel Core i7 and Core i9 processors on the 15-inch machine and a quad-core setup on the 13-inch model.
Apple has also bumped up storage space – to 2TB and 4TB on each size – as well as boosting memory to 32GB for those who want to load more apps simultaneously on the 15-inch notebook.
Elsewhere, “a more natural viewing experience” is promised, using so-called “True Tone” technology for greater brightness and deeper colours on the display.
The keyboard, now in its third-generation, has received some work too, to make typing quieter.
A chip called Apple T2 has been introduced to the MacBook Pro for enhanced security. The chip, which was first introduced on the iMac Pro, also brings “Hey Siri” to the Mac for the first time.
The updated MacBook Pros are available now from £1,749 and £2,349 respectively.
